Round 4 saw us away to Tweed Coast Tigers (Yellow) in perfect Football conditions.
The Dolphins started well early and took control from the outset.
Harley K was mopping everything up down back while Mason S was giving us plenty of drive through the midfield.
Leon, Tommy & Junah all made solid runs & showed great teamwork, while Indigo and Xavier were in the thick of the game, moving the ball around well and both continued to rack up the touches at will.
Georgia got to every contest in her area and battled ferociously while Jed showed impressive tackling skills with countless tackles. Alfie C went on a few dazzling runs while Lucas showed great accuracy with his kicks, always finding a player.
Bodhi put in his best game for the year bursting through the packs to get the ball going our way, while Hudson also got some good kicks away & continued to grow in confidence throughout the game. Bodhi took home one of the ‘Players of the Match Awards’ with the other ‘Player of the Match’ award going to Alvaro (Indigo’s younger brother) who had a killer first game with us showcasing his natural talent & toughness in the contest. Congratulations Bodhi & Alvaro.
Watching this team grow in skill & confidence every week is so awesome to witness! What a great group of kids with supportive parents cheering them all on. Looking forward to our next game!

In an epic away showdown against the Tweed Coast Tigers at Cabarita, the U11 Kingscliff Dolphins Blue once again braved the challenge of facing bigger and older opponents. Right from the start, it was clear that the game would be a physical one, and our Dolphins struggled to match it with the Tigers early as they established a commanding 7-goal lead by halftime.
But as our team have continually shown, they are not ones to throw in the towel! The Dolphins refused to back down and showed tremendous resilience in the second half, limiting the Tigers to just one goal. Even though the final score tipped in favour of the Tigers at 56-1, the Dolphins' coaches once again walked away impressed by the effort displayed by their boys. To keep fighting and maintain their determination after facing such a significant halftime deficit speaks volumes about the character of our Dolphins team.
As usual there was a number of great performances this week, Dash had a big game with a lot of involvement and Archie K took some great marks and was a rock in defence. However, this week's Best on Ground awardees were Jack V and Max! Jack V has been pushing for a spot in the midfield this season and seized the opportunity with both hands, with some great touches and strong defensive efforts. Max, once again, showcased his exceptional work rate with impressive disposal count.
A big thanks to Xavier and Mason (U9’s) for filling in today and providing us a reserve on the bench. Both played exceptionally well after already playing a game earlier in the day.
Further appreciation goes to Alexandra for providing the team with refreshing oranges and Darren for his contribution as the goal umpire during the game. The Dolphins appreciate the support and assistance of their dedicated volunteers.
Things didn’t go our way this week but each and every child should be proud of their performance. I look forward to seeing the boys go up another gear when they go head-to-head with the Kingscliff Red team in our Round 5 Home Derby. Go Dolphins!
Back on the home deck against a Burleigh bombers side who were a pleasure to play against. We were a few players down but were helped out by the bombers each quarter to ensure an even and fun game. The Dolphin girls played well moving the ball forward all game and defending when needed. We had more scoring shots but went down by 5 points. Thanks to the under 9 girls that played up to help the team. With a full team, I’m sure next time we will improve on that result.
Round 4 saw the mighty U11 Reds back at Merv Edwards field to take on Brunswick Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs were decimated by illness and could only field a small team and this meant our boys took turns helping out the Doggies with numbers. We are always so impressed by the boys willingness to help out other clubs and the first four boys even went and proactively participated in the Doggies warmup.
Our lads are still putting together very strong performances each week, and this one was no different. Our movement by hand and foot was very impressive given the windy conditions and our midfield really burst out of stoppages to put the game on our terms. The reduced numbers also gave us a chance to roll some boys through the midfield for the first time and they grabbed the opportunity.
The opposition coaches made a special effort to come and congratulate our boys on their game and more particularly to comment on their skill levels. In particular they were impressed how well the boys move the ball around and work together in numbers at each contest.
Player of the week was awarded to Bodhi. His ability to find the ball and turn the opposition inside out is incredible and he ensured that the result was put away early. He is also a ferocious tackler and great mark and sets the tone in the guts every game.
The effort award this week was awarded to Archie. He rolls down to training every week (rain, hail or shine) and just loves getting on the end of a mark. We also love how determined he is as a defender and really relishes taking those intercepting marks and is one of the first to put his hand up to help out. He also donned the Customer Experience hat at the Friday night BBQ and is just a real club man. Keep it up Arch!
We've got our local derby against our fellow U11 team at home this week. Make sure you come down to check it out.
Go Dolphins!

Our Under 9.5 Dolphins Red team made the trek to Lismore to play the Swans, armed with a deadly playlist that the boys came up with for the road trip - everyone arrived in high spirits.
The first quarter was an absolute highlight of team football, with the ball getting shared around by all the players. Joey and Oscar were electric in the middle getting plenty of the ball and sending it forward to Archie, who was also giving them plenty of options up front. Matty was very busy, along with Sol - who was finding plenty of space through hard running.
The second quarter saw us regain Jobe, for the Lismore team - and his impact was immediate, applying pressure and thumping the ball forward. Matty and Michael also started working into space well and found plenty of the footy. Sully’s quick footed skilful play was the start of many forays forward - which saw James, who was really getting involved in the tight play, find some space to put through our first goal for the game and his first in Dolphins in the Dolphins Guernsey. It was great to see the boys get around him!
The third and fourth quarter we still saw more of the free flowing footy, that was a feature of the match - and although the scoring slowed, the footy was spectacular to watch. Watching our more slightly built players such as Sonny, Zac and Rishi go in and attack the footy the way they did was awesome, and they were rewarded with plenty of kicks. Benji was busy getting the ball out to his team mates, and Max also very polished through the middle or the ground. Nate had been applying great pressure, all day and was rewarded on the scoreboard, putting through a super goal from a tight angle.
A big thank you to all the boys who played a quarter each with the Lismore team, this goes a long way to improving our footy game, and shows what a great culture our team has. We as coaches were super proud of how well the team shared the footy around this week - we can see that the team, although full of new players, are really starting to gel and this will only improve as the year goes on! Great effort Dolphins - FINS UP!
