Kingscliff Under 8 Blue vs Ballina Bombers Black

Hi Dolphins,

The sun was shining and the wind was blowing as the Kingscliff Dolphins U8 Blues returned home to Merv Edwards Oval to take on the Ballina Bombers.

A strong side-wind made it difficult for both teams to find a target, however I was really impressed with how our players overcame this challenge and used their foot speed to cut through the Bombers defence.

We were missing some of our star members in Logan, Tilly and Lenny, however this gave the opportunity for some other players to step up & shine. As always, Max and Jack S played a key role rebounding the ball from our backline, whilst Jorga, Javier and Rilley were all fantastic in the contest.

Congratulations to our “Player of the Week” Archie. The scoreline (if we scored lol) was very close at the 3rd qtr time break, however I think the mighty Dolphins pulled away in the last quarter thanks to some fantastic overhead marks & goals from Archie & Jack V. Well done boys!

This weekend we’re back on the road and heading out to Murwillumbah to take on the Vulcans. I look forward to see you all at training this Thursday.

Go the Dolphins!

Kingscliff Under 8 Red vs Murwillumbah Vulcans

Another good game from our Under 8 RED’s showing more improvement and teamwork each and every week. All players continue to gel together and work the ball down the field which is sometimes done with ease. With Murwillumbah Vulcans fielding a few first gamers our team showed some gamesmanship which allowed the Vulcans players into the game.

Lucian, Ziggy and Kelley were constantly peppering the goals and got some good delivery into the forward line from Parker and Kalan. Ky, Banjo, Lukas and Archie were also influential all over the ground making a heap of ground with their big kicks. Well done to the player of the week Ziggy. Your attack on the ball and natural ability to find the goals is great to see. Keep it up.

Another trek on the road this week to Lismore. 9am game ensures for another early start. See you all at training!

Kingscliff Under 10 Blue vs Tweed Coast Tigers Yellow

Well that’s 2 amazing games in a row for our mighty under 10 Blue boys. We headed down to Round Mountain, home of the Tweed Coast Tigers, expecting a big hit out against a very strong club. Well did they get a shock from our boys. Straight from the get go, our lads got it out of the centre and our forward line had it coming in a lot more times than The Tigers did.

On that note, Riely, Didge, Tom and Joe stood their ground in the backline all game and kept them to 1 point. That’s right, 1 point for the whole game. A huge congratulations to all of those 4.
Taj, Zac, Odin and Levi lead by example in the centre whilst Boyd and Preston kept our goals ticking along. Special mention to Oliver who keeps improving every game and is really starting to get his hands on the ball.

But our player of the week had to go to a guy who always puts in and is really starting get how to become a ball winner was Arlo. We are so proud of the way he is taking the game on and his tackling is fierce. Well done Arlo.

We have the local derby this week so let’s see how we fare up against our mighty red team.

Cheers

Kingscliff Under 10 Red vs Lismore Swans

This week we played against the Lismore Swans at home. Lismore was the bogey team for our boys last year handing us a very comprehensive defeat. The boys have turned the tables now and played out a very competitive game where we might have just gotten across the line; we didn't keep score but we were reliably informed by the boys that we won :)

Last week's BOG, Daniel, made another great move as this week's captain by choosing to kick with the 6 goal breeze at our backs for the first quarter and third quarters. We kicked a few good goals but once again a bit of inaccuracy in front of goal has cost us a bigger lead.

In the second and last quarters the boys were instructed to run the ball into the wind and move the ball by foot where possible. Our defence was solid in each of the quarters where the ball spent a lot of time coming in quickly and we managed to kick a few goals against the wind. There were some amazing handball chains that drove us up the field and really showed that the boys are starting to think their way around the park in very trying conditions.

Billy was our player of the week this week. As he always does, BIlly provided a great contest and applied some very strong tackles. Billy reads the balls very well in the air and then drives the ball long with an amazing kick and was particularly solid in defence against the Swans. Week in, week out he always gives his all and we love watching him play - keep up the good work Billy!

We have a home game against the Kingscliff U10 BLUES on Sunday at 9am - warm up at 8:30. The local derby is always the highlight of our season as it pits mate against mate. The boys train together all year so there will be lots of banter and this is a true test of our young team's ability against a well drilled side. We'll be encouraging the boys to get up for this one, and regardless of the result, as a club I assure you we can't be prouder of the growth across all teams this year.

Kingscliff Superstars

What another great day it was on Sunday down at our home ground at Merv Edwards Field. We also had Murwillumbah Vulcans, Tweed Coast Tigers and the Coolangatta Blues come to, which was great to see. It was a fantastic turnout by all our superstars, with 18 kids coming to have a kick and some fun.

We split up into two teams, one team played the Blues, and the other team joined up with the Tigers and the Vulcans, which only I had a couple of players each to play the second game. We had a request from the Vulcans coach to play in their jumpers as the last few weeks they have played in opposition colours, and it was great to see a show of sportsmanship from our superstars who were happy to wear their jumper. It’s has been good to see the improvement over the last few weeks of our superstar's skills, so keep up the great work. I also wanted to say a big thank you to all of the Mums and Dads again for their help with games and for bringing them down to play. The Dolphins superstars are holding up the competition with so many players, so all-around great effort. Go Dolphins 🐬
