Kingscliff 3 . 3 . 21
Pac Power 5 . 13. 43
Sunday saw us playing Pac Power at home for our second to last game of the season, with Razor Ben Rogers getting a workout and looking after the umpiring duties.
The Dolphins started the game strong which was great to see, with some early goals that gave us the lead to start things off and generate a bit of excitement. The boys were looking switched on and winning the contests and moving the ball well. However as the game progressed the Power managed to get on top and then they pulled away in the second half with the ball spending a lot of time in their forward line which resulted in a lot of scoring shots (and luckily quite a few behinds).
The main difference in the 3rd and 4th quarters was that the Power were leading into space and making accurate passes. And on the flipside, the Dolphins were quite often rushing their kicks and bombing it forward, which more often than not resulted in a turnover. The Power also seemed to have a bit more run in the second half so fitness looked like a bit of a difference too. As with previous weeks, even when things weren't going our way, the Dolphins still worked hard and had a crack right up until the final siren.
Mason was our player of the week. He set a great example for the team by playing in the midfield and constantly following the contest all over the field. He never slowed down (even after a knee injury) and he impacted the contests too, tackling and getting stuck in and winning the ball.
Bohdi again played a great game with strong marks, a million possessions and great attack on the footy. He worked very hard for all four quarters and it’s always impressive to watch him play footy.
Milan was running at 50% after a long bout of sickness and still played a great game and saw a lot of the footy. Billy has also been very sick and we moved him into the forward line (after spending most of the season holding down the backline) and he didn’t disappoint, taking big marks and doing great work in front of goals.
And we put Lennox at full back where he did an excellent job on a very large opponent to stop him scoring and from having too much of an impact on the game. He didn’t complain once, and just went about his business which made the coaches very happy.
This Sunday we head to Ballina for our final game of the season. So we’ll see you all for one last time as the boys get on the field and we’ll see how they go. Go Dolphins!
