Kingscluff U11 Girls vs Palm Beach Maroon

Friday Night at home in perfect conditions against Palm Beach Maroon.

Well what can I say - A well deserved win. A first for our team and the club in an all girls competition.

It’s been an amazing journey so far with the improvement and passion for footy building each and very week.

Everyone got involved all over the field which was great to see.

Major ball winners Estelle and Chance were again on fire leading the team throughout the game with the help Payton, Trinity and Chloe with 3 big goals.

Well done girls - keep up the hard work!

Kingscliff U11 Blue vs Byron Bay Magpies Black

The Kingscliff Dolphins Under 11 Blue faced off against Byron Bay Black in a thrilling clash at Merv Edwards Field. The windy conditions on Sunday morning added an extra challenge to the closely contested game between the two teams, offering a clear benefit to whichever team had the breeze behind them.

Byron Bay had the advantage of the wind in the first quarter, relentlessly applying pressure to our backline. However, our resilient defense stood strong, preventing them from scoring a goal and limiting them to five behinds.

The change of ends saw the Dolphins have the wind behind them in the second quarter. The constant pressure exerted by our boys paid off, resulting in a notable fourteen points on the scoreboard with Archie K kicking a great goal.

The third quarter proved to be most pivotal, with Byron Bay continuously peppering our defensive third. However, our boys held firm, and through some rigid defence and consistent stoppages, Byron were not able to play and free flowing footy and were restricted just seven points for the term.

With the score of 14-12 in favour to the dolphins, a tense fourth quarter was sure to ensue. The action didn't disappoint in an intense battle, with both teams scoring a goal each including a nice effort from Jack S. However, our determined Dolphins emerged victorious with a final score of 21 points to 18.

This game showcased the best team effort of the year, with every player contributing to the hard-fought victory.

This week's Players of the Match go to Logan and Jaxson. Logan displayed increased involvement and took a crucial mark in a crowded contest, which proved pivotal in getting the ball out of our end. Jaxson made a remarkable comeback from injury, impressively getting involved in the game after a long time away.

Thanks again to Stacey as a First Aid Officer, Bec and Trev for providing the team with oranges and lollies and a shoutout also goes to Kim for taking on goal umpire duties.

Looking ahead, our next game will be held in Murwillumbah next Sunday. This will be our last match before the mid-season break. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Go Dolphins!

Kingscliff U11 Red vs Murwillumbah Vulcans

This weekend the mighty Reds hosted Murwillumbah Vulcans at home.

We moved a few boys across to even the teams up this week. This was received really well by Murwillumbah and is great for Northern Rivers football. Big thanks to the boys that made this game so enjoyable for both sides.

Our overall game was consistent and some of the kicking skills are improving every week. The boys are still looking to move the ball up the guts and we’re still asking that we spread the ball wide and that will continue to be a focus for them.

Our player of the week was Dash. He is finding his feet now and we saw some really hard two way running from him. He also got on the end of a few snags so we’re thrilled that he is getting some reward for effort.

Our effort award was picked up by Max D. Maxy impacted a heap of contests this week and saw more pill than usual, this comes down to applying the skills we’re practicing at training and he applied himself really well this week.

We have a praccy against Cooly on Friday which will be a great test against a Gold Coast club. This will be followed by a game in Lismore on Sunday to see us into the school holidays.

Cheers
Jono, Mick and Ben

Kingscliff U9 Red vs Kingscliff U9 Blue

This week saw us at home, against our other under 9s reds team. From being in the change rooms together before the match to running out together, the vibe was great & the kids were ready to have some fun!

Our team, the under 9 blues, were lacking a bit of the energy and magic they usually show during games and the Red team took control after half time.

It was great to see all the players from both teams having fun & getting around each other. The sportsmanship shown by both teams, shows the wonderful culture that is at our footy club.

Hudson got the player of match. Huddy got right in the contested ball & got a few nice kicks & hand balls away.
Huddy keeps developing in skill & is always such a good team mate. Congratulations Hudson!

Thanks once again to all the parents who helped this week. Megan (Tommy’s Mum) with oranges, Chels (Xavier’s Mum) 1st Aid & a special mention to Pete (Lucas’s Dad) who was on the bbq & selling snags for hours again! We appreciate you Pete. Cheers mate!

Looking forward to our next match at home against the Tweed Coast Tigers.

Fins up! Go Dolphins!
