The Kingcliff U11 Blue team stepped onto the field under lights at Round Mountain in our first night game, ready to face the formidable Tweed Coast Tigers Yellow. It proved to be a tough night for our U11 Blues, as they found themselves up against a team that appeared to have some much older players.
Throughout the game, the team faced an uphill battle. The size of the opposition and some perplexing interpretations of the game made it difficult to gain good field possession. However, our Dolphins kept their spirits high, maintaining their resilience and persistence until the final whistle. It was a true testament to their character and determination and despite the challenging circumstances, our Dolphins gave it everything they had and never gave in.
A special thank you goes to Carter's family for providing the team with this week’s oranges. We also thanks Todd, Logan's Dad, for taking up the role of goal umpiring. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
The coaching team was truly amazed by the resilience and positive attitude displayed by our players throughout the game. Their unwavering commitment and effort in the face of adversity was truly commendable. This week, the Player of the Match award goes to Ziggy, who delivered a strong all-round performance with plenty of touches in what was undoubtedly a challenging game.
Looking ahead, our next game will be a home match against Lismore. See you all there!
Go Dolphins!
The home game advantage was strong for our girls in round 6 against Palm Beach. Our girls are really starting to make our ground a real fortress to play at which is cool to witness. It was the first time against the Palmy Gold side since round 1 where our girls tried their best but were a bit shell shocked in their first game but Friday night was a completely different story however and the whole match was very evenly contested with the game going goal for goal to each side.
It’s very impressive to see the things we have been working on in training like our handballs and tackling to keep the opponent standing, come out in games.
Player of the match this week went to our running machine Gemma with numerous run down tackles, getting the ball and exploding away from packs and her first goal for the year which was topped off with a very impressive goal celebration!
This week we are away playing the Palmy blue side Friday night. With a few players out this week therefore less rotations on the bench it’s going to take a real team effort to play at our best!
A home game, hosting the big Local derby against the Tweed Coast Tigers! The place was packed to the rafters with the crowd from both sides cheering for the girls.
We got out to a hand lead with a few early goals from Chance. Sophie went down with an injury and want able to return but the girls fought hard and kept their noses in front. The last quarter saw the tigers kick a goal and two behinds which levelled up the score. It was end to end footy in the final seconds and appropriately ended in a Draw which all girls from both sides deserved.
Thanks to Jamie and his Tigers girls for a thrilling and enjoyable night of Girls Footy4Fun
What a game! Round 6 matched the undefeated Kingy Reds against the undefeated Tweed Coast Black at Round Mountain road on Friday night.
From the first bounce the contest was on. It was apparent very early that this was going to be a tight contest and boys from both teams played their hearts out all night.
The margin never got out past a few goals and with a quarter to go our boys were up by 8 points. The Tweed Coast team was strong all over the park and kept peppering our defensive zone and thankfully our defence held out for a well deserved 1 point victory.
This is the first real test for the team and us coaches are super proud of the effort every single boy put in, it was a true team effort to get the W. We spent some time in the rooms afterwards discussing how important each role everyone played and it truly was a special moment watching the lads belt out the song at the top of their lungs.
Player of the week went to Mason. Mason was everywhere and ran his heart out to make sure every time there was a contest he was front and centre. He has found another gear in the last few weeks and had an absolute blinder. Best game we've seen him play. Go Mace!
The effort award this week went to Jack R. Jack was at the bottom of every pack when there was a stoppage, must have laid 20 tackles and routinely won clearances for our team. We really liked how Jack attacked the contest and is applying the lessons we are teaching at training - the harder you go into the contest the more chance you have of making a positive impact.
This week we are back at home and face off against Tweed Coast Yellow - this will be another cracker so come down at 12:30pm on Sunday to watch a good contest.
Go the mighty Reds!
Ben, Jono and Mick
Our mighty Under 9 Blue Dolphins were away this week in Murwillumbah. While we were driving to the ground, it started pouring. We weren’t sure if a match was going to happen due to the very wet weather conditions, we were pleased that the game did go ahead.
Xavier, Harley, Junuh and Mason H all took some great marks, kicked some great goals and played good footy early on & throughout the game. Mitch & Leon found rhythm & got the ball out to team mates. Bodhi stripped the ball on numerous occasions of the opponent and pumped the ball forward.
Alfie found plenty of space throughout the game & scored a killer goal.
Tommy & Georgia were hungry for the ball winning many possessions.
Lucas displayed great game sense while Indigo and Mason S had impact and lots of footy in the 3rd & 4th quarters.
Players of the Match went to Junuh and Lucas. Both terrific young boys, always supporting team their mates & playing great footy week after week. Its been such a joy as a coach to see both these players grow in confidence and skill level every game. Congratulations boys!
A big thank you to all the supportive Dolphins parents/families for cheering loudly & braving the cold, wet conditions.
This week was another super performance by this impressive team, who are yet to have a big challenge with their opponents!
Keep up the amazing work Kingy Dolphins U9 Blue Team!

Well they say Dolphins love the water - well that’s just as well, because this week we travelled down the highway to face the Byron Magpies on a cold wintery and wet day… Many would say, a perfect day for footy (and many would disagree hahaha.)
The game started with the boys full of confidence after such a great week the week prior - but quickly found out that it was going to be a tough slog in the wet against their much bigger opponents. The starting defensive unit were kept busy, but did an amazing job repelling a Byron Bay attacks, Matty and Rishi used their pace and Benji started the game well creating pressure when the ball hit the ground.
The midfield started well - with Joey, Sully, Noah and Jobe matching it with their bigger opponents for most of the first part of the game, although across the ground we noticed that the boys were not getting first to the ball as the quarter wore on. The coaches challenged the boys to step up in the remaining quarters, and we were so proud of the way they dug deep and showed the grit and determination that we are so proud of! Micheal, had the ball on a string - and our little terriers of Sonny and Zac didn’t let anyone get an easy kick. Oscar did what Oscar does - never giving in, and always the first to tackle a kid twice his size, and Archie was his ever reliable self in front of goal - slotting another one this week for us. With Nate also making sure that no one got an easy kick out their, whilst collecting a few of his own.
As the game wore on - it was evident to see that the toll of playing bigger bodies was starting to wear the boys out, but you wouldn’t know it on the field. Jimmy didn’t stop running all day, featuring in some great forward chances, and Max brought down some great marks!
Congratulations to Benji and Michael for receiving players of the match - it was great to see all the hard work these kids are putting in paying off.
Go Dolphins - can’t believe they ran out of pies at Byron!
