Kingscliff U10 White vs Ballina Bombers

Tough game today against the Ballina Bombers, big thank you to Ben, Archie and Max from the 10 Blues for helping out, much appreciated.

Tough first qtr with the Bombers quite good at getting it out of the middle and down to their (rather larger) players for a quick few goal's, our boys switched on stymied the flow. Javier getting involved everywhere

Second qtr was ours with a good couple of goals keeping us in it, including goal of the match by Lucian bending it in.

3rd qtr again quite evenly matched, we got a goal back and almost drew level. Notable performances by Parker and Headley who both really got into the game.

4th qtr was won by the Bombers with a few quick goals in succession (some questionable calls from the Ref) our boys dug deep and played hard til the end.

All in all a great team effort with everyone getting touches and helping each other out. Player of the week was Javier who gave it his best from start to finish (we owe you a Maccas voucher) and encouragement award to Calan who kept trying all game.

Thanks again to the Blues 10's who helped us out. Wishing everyone great holiday break can't wait to get stuck in in a few weeks.

Cheers,
Trev, Solly and Ben

Kingscliff U10 Red vs Ballina Bombers Mixed

Our longest road trip of the season saw us take on Ballina Bombers at their home ground.

Another stunning day for footy and the mighty Reds had a great day - there must be something about playing away from home that really brings out the best in the boys!

The boys got off to a good start but Ballina showed plenty of fight and provided a good contest.

Once again the play of the week was a fantastic movement down the ground using only handballs as six boys got on the end of a really good chain. Us coaches just love seeing this and we could hear the compliments of the parents on the sidelines. Lots of unselfish play and sharing the ball around is what we're all about!

Saxon had a blinder, simply put. He was everywhere and ran hard into both defence and attack. His raking left boot really set up a lot of forward entries and it was a great performance. He was duly rewarded with player of the week.

Daniel aka 'tackling machine' gave his usual 110% effort. He has a great awareness for where the ball is heading and if you are an opposition player near Daniel you'd better be prepared to be wrapped up! His kicking game is developing nicely also. We love Daniel's effort week in week out and he picked up our encouragement award. Keep it up boys.

We have a bit of a break now and will be back at it towards the end of July.

Kingscliff U8 Red vs Byron Bay Magpies

This week our under 8 reds Kingy Dolphin team travelled south to play against the Byron Bay Magpies. Coach Fletch was very explicit in our pre-game chat that he wanted to see the boys passing to our teammates who were in better positions to keep the ball moving forward.

Straight out of the blocks our mid field was dominate. Strong pressure by Sully, Jobe, Noah and Max helped us to win the ball allowing our forwards to have many scoring opportunities. It was the most aggressive I have seen our boys play.

It was a positive game for all our forwards. Joey, Archie, Liam, Zac and Oxford kicked multiple goals. There were technical shots on goals from tight angles, long-range bombs and crafty snaps around the body. I'm sure all the parents agree this has been an area of improvement over the past six weeks.

Once again, our back line stood 6ft tall rebounding the ball and taking strong contested marks. Harley, Xavier, and Mitch were the standouts in this area. Their strength and skills were no match for the Byron Magpies.

Each week we choose our Best on Ground (BOG) and most improved. This week Archie was our (BOG) and most deserved of this award. He showed excellent poise and skill with the ball in hand and slotted a few goals too. Liam received our most improved award showing the coaches that he is transferring his training knowledge into the games.

Once again it was a proud day for all our boys and parents. It's hard not to imagine what they will be like in 5 years’ time if they all stick together and play for each other.

Proud coaches James, Fletch and Josh

Kingscliff U8 Blue vs Tweed Tigers

A glorious Sunday awaited us as we took on Tweed tigers in perfect footy conditions.

From the 1st bounce we took control as the ball was played mostly on our half. Levi Miller was once again mopping everything up down back and with Indigo B prolific through the middle the Dolphins we’re looking strong.

Sisters Indi and lily started to have an influence while Georgia V was once again in and under all the packs winning contested footy. Mason S kicked another bag during the 2nd quarter to continue his solid year.

Peyton helped herself to about 5 snags in the last quarter as she showed she has a smart footy brain getting to the ball 1st. Tully Aalders kicked his 1st major for the year and what a goal it was. He picked it up about 40 metres out ran 10-15 then drilled a perfect drop punt from 25 metres out straight through the middle. Way to go Tully!!!

Player of the Match- Levi Miller
Encouragement Award- Peyton

Thanks to everyone who helped set up on Sunday and all the amazing parents for their continued support! Our club rocks! Go dolphins.
