This week saw us take on Byron Magpies. A wet and soggy ground greeted us which could only mean kid stoke levels were high!!
In what was a very hot contest with both sides having a red hot crack, it was the Dolphins who seemed to adapt to the slippery conditions a bit better. Once again the Dolphins clicked into gear from the get go and slammed on a lot of goals. The link up play was outrageous and the kids are really starting to understand when to handball and when to kick.
Georgia H got busy as Levi and Indigo were everywhere in the middle. Lily H was again dominant and Hudson P took some lovely marks. Georgia V just thrives in the wet and was in and under the packs all game putting her body on the line time and again.
Neve L and Indi H were looking dangerous around goals and selflessly dished it off to better options. Mason S had his best game for the year and took out Player of the Match while Georgia H also was dominant taking home the encouragement award.
Thanks again to all the parents for making the trip down the highway and helping out.
Go Dolphins!
Coach Jess.
The U10 Reds took on the Kingy U10 Blue team this week in what was a great game of footy with the younger Blue team providing a great contest. We were really impressed with the clean and fast ball movement from the Reds and it was a pleasure to watch a few passages of play down the wing with the boys linking up some accurate kicking and handballing. The scoring was spread across many of our players which is also great to see.
The Kingy U10 Blue side put up a good challenge, with some very impressive tackling and pressure on the older and bigger boys in the Red team. There was also some great defensive work from the Blues back line that stopped many of our entries into the forward line.
After half time we mixed the teams up and a few of the Reds bench went across and played for the Blues. The congestion level went up a notch with the extra players but the boys on both teams were having a ball which was great to watch.
Jack B was our player of the week. He plays every game at a very high standard and Sunday was no different. He continually used his pace to clear the ball along with some great passing and shots on goal. Max D got the encouragement award showing some great improvements on the field, with some impressive run and carry and also slotting a nice goal up forward. Saxon also had an excellent game, appearing wherever the ball was and taking some great marks and sending it long.
This weekend we have a Friday night blockbuster practice match against the Tweed Coolangatta U10s. Playing a team from the Gold Coast competition will be a great challenge for our lads and the players and coaches are very excited.

After a long holiday away from the game, the under 11 boys turned up with our full crew. 19 fiery boys ready to go. Murwillumbah had only 10 players , so we decided to give them 5 of ours to even things up.
As usual, our boys always do the team thing and many hands went up to help out. Let's just say Steve and I are always impressed with the way our team nurture the game more than themselves.
Special mention to Tom and Preston for staying strong in the backline when Jessie, Taj, Levi, Zac and Joe came firing all guns at the Dolphins when put on Murwillumbahs side. The Vulcans definitely enjoyed being on a winning side for once. Tom and Preston played outstanding defence.
See you all at Balina this week for another testing game against the bombers.
