What a performance by Kingy Blue Dolphins! We travelled down the road to play Byron Bay Magpies in what is always a tough competitive game.
We welcomed some new players in Joe and Odin to the team and they gave us great value in the midfield and backlines early in what was a slow start.
The boys gradually fought back and competed hard to even up the game. Zac and Levi dominated the midfield in the 2nd and 3rd quarters with a high number of tackles and clean clearances into the forward line which saw Taj and Preston kicking some valuable goals.
Efforts from Joe and Tommy along with some big backline bombs from Riley prevented scoring by the opposition. The last quarter Byron Bay picked it up a notch although the boys held their own and kicking the same amount of goals and finished off well in what was a terrific performance.
Well done team. It was impressive to watch!
This week we travelled down the road to play the Tweed Coast Tigers on a beautiful Sunday morning.
The boys got off to a slow start with a few quick goals kicked against us and looked like it could have been the start of a long tough game. To the boys credit they turned things around and Saxon kicked a very nice goal after being moved into the forward line this week. It was a great contest with only accuracy in front of goal costing the boys a victory.
Under 10 Reds do seem to love the Cabarita oval, as yet again this was one of our best games of the season. Across the board we are seeing immense improvement in each player across every position and it is fantastic to see. Our player of the week was a tough decision with Kai and Saxon both having their best games of the year, but ultimately Daniel picked up the gong. Daniel's constant attack on the footy and reading of the play is great to watch and he had a huge game.
Next week we play Lismore at our home venue in Kingscliff on Sunday morning at 10am with warm-up commencing at 9:30am. Lismore were our bogey side last year and I'm sure everyone (including coaches) is looking to show them what the Dolphins are made of!
Go Kingy Dolphins

Last weekend saw the mighty Dolphins return to Cabarita to take on the 2nd Tweed Coast Tigers team. The last time we ventured south to Round Mountain Oval, we had an easier game against a younger & less experienced opposition, however this week was a much different story.
From the outset, the Tigers were much more physical around the contest than what we had been used to in previous weeks & it took our Dolphins time to adjust. Despite being outsized, I was extremely proud of our team and how they showed true grit & determination even if it meant coping a few head high tackles here & there.
A special “shout out” must go to our little pocket rocket, Max. With every opportunity he had, Max was at the bottom of the pack trying to win the football for his team, and his last-line defence helped prevent the Tigers from kicking 3-4 goals easily. Other special mentions go to Lenny for his constant endeavour and efforts around the ball as well as Ebony & Jorja for not being afraid to mix it up with the bigger boys. Well done guys, keep it up!
This weeks “player of the match” goes to our newcomer, Rilley. For his first ever game of Aussie Rules, I was so impressed with Rilley’s speed, skills and ability to find an open player by hand. Congratulations mate and welcome to our pod of Dolphins.
This weekend we return home to Merv Edwards Oval to take on the 2nd Ballina Bombers team. From all accounts we’re up for another good challenge and I’m looking forward to see how our team responds. The new “game play" drills at training have definitely helped our team develop & we will continue to work on this over the comings weeks.
Once again, thanks to all the parents for their support and feedback, it’s much appreciated. If you’re down at the training and want to help out, please don’t hesitate to ask.
See you all this Thursday at training.
Go Dolphins!
