Kingscliff Under 8 Blue vs Brunswick Bulldogs

The Kingy Dolphins U8’s Blue Team headed south last weekend to take on the Brunswick Bulldogs at the beautiful Stan Thompson Oval.

Despite being short of players due to the school holiday break, our little dolphins dug deep and put on an outstanding performance across all 4 quarters.

Every player contributed to our team win, however it was our two 6 year old girls, Tilly and Ebony who displayed true grit & determination against the Bulldogs. I loved watching both girls tuck the ball under their arm and sprint towards goal with the boys hot on their heels. We can unfortunately only name one “player of the match” and this week it was awarded to our little pocket rocket, Tilly Solomon. Tilly was in the contest all day and she kicked 2 fantastic goals against the wind. Well done Tilly!

Due to school holidays we will be on a break for the next 2 weeks before returning home for our big derby against the U8’s Kingy Reds. The corresponding game last year was a season highlight, so we look forward to another even contest between both sides.

For those parents who are yet to purchase a ticket to our upcoming Trivia Night, don’t miss this opportunity. It should be a fun night and it will help raise some much needed funds to support our growing club.

Enjoy the break and at training on Thursday 15th July.

Kingscliff Under 10 Blue vs Ballina Bombers

Our boys turned up undermanned from the first bounce. We were very cooperative in the first half but had to let Levi go due to his rugby commitments.

They boys made a courageous effort against a very talented team and it was a nail biting finish. We were very unfortunate in a couple of decisions in front of goals but that’s how the game rolls.

A solid effort all round and a special effort to Zac but our player of the week had to go to Tom who always puts in each week.

See you all at the next game.

Kingscliff Under 10 Red vs Byron Magpies White

Round 9 saw the U 10 Dolphins Red team head down the Highway to Byron to play the Byron Magpies White Team.

Conditions were good for footy with a slight breeze favouring the northern end of the ground. Byron kicked a couple of early ones but our boys stabilised to get the ball up our end. Lukas ran on to the ball in the forward pocket and snapped across his body for an amazing goal, arguably the best of the season.

Going with the wind in the second quarter Archie managed to kick a goal, continuing his much improved form from last week. Beau really took big strides in this game winning his own ball in the forward line, tackling and having a couple of shots of goal.

The third quarter saw a really unfortunate incident between Billy and one of the magpies players, in which Billy got hurt. Billy showed a huge amount of bravery to come back on the field later in 4th quarter once he recovered.

This weeks player of the week went to Lukas. He’s really started to find his feet after coming up from the U 8’s, and he’s starting to win his own ball and use that big kick of his. Congratulations Lukas and well done for putting in that time to develop your game not only at training but at home.

I’m proud of all of our boys for how they stepped up in the final quarter. We started to use the ball with handballs and targeted kicks and Tommy had a really purple patch in that last quarter.

We only have 2 more games left of the season which will resume on the 18th July.

Enjoy the school holidays and stay safe.
