Kingscliff Under 8 Blue vs Kingscliff Under 8 Red

G’day Dolphins!

I hope everyone is safe & well.

Last week we were treated to a cracking game as the U8’s Reds battled it out with the U8’s blue in the "Kingscliff Derby”.

As suspected, it was a very even contest from the outset as both teams went goal for goal in the first half. Banjo and Kai were leading from the front for the Red Team, whilst Jack Sinclair, Lenny and Ebony were competing hard for the blues.

Having now played all teams in our South East QLD competition, I think it’s fair to say that the Kingscliff Dolphins are one of the strongest clubs based on our on-field performances. We’ve come along way in the last 12 months and the future is exciting for our growing club.

Archie Plunkett and Jack Sinclair were both awarded “Player of the Match” for their respective teams. On behalf of all coaches and support staff, we say congratulations boys.

With only a few more weeks remaining, we remind all parents of our upcoming Club Trivia Night. We only have 20 seats remaining, so please don’t miss this opportunity to leave the kids at home & enjoy a great night out with some adults.

See you all at training this Thursday at 4:30pm.

Cheers,

Ben & Eliza

Kingscliff Superstars

Well, after a couple of weeks off, it was great to see everyone back at our home ground for a match against Banora, Tweed Coast and Murwillumbah. We had two teams on the day, which was excellent to see. One group played Banora/Murwillumbah, and the other Tweed Coast and our little superstars were full of beans, and everyone played very well, so well done.

As always, a big shout out to all the parents for bringing their kids along to the games it‘s fantastic to see the progress from the start of the year until now, so keep up the good work. Special mention to Jarred and Martin (welcome back king Martin) for all the help in making it an enjoyable day for all.

This week we are down at Tweed Coast Tigers ground at Barry Shepard oval at 8 am, so I look forward to seeing you all there again this weekend.

Go dolphins 🐬

Kingscliff Under 10 Blue vs Byron Bay Magpies

Our boys ventured down the road to Byron Bay to take on a club who is becoming an arch nemesis to the Dolphins. Having played them in round one against 22 players to our 10 and our boys trying to find their feet , it was always a one sided event. Our lads where keen to turn the tables, especially after an unfortunate situation last week by our other under 10 red team.

There was a huge wind difference going one way at Byron got the advantage of it early kicking 3 quick goals. The boys had to dig deep and responded with a goal into a strong wind. Once we got the wind in the second quarter, the boys where on fire. Preston, Taj, Oli were a few who loved the feeling of booting plenty of goals against the magpies. Something I don’t think they have experienced much this season.

All round amazing efforts by all on the ground and I mean ALL players. They all did their job and came home with the chocolates. Player of the week, Zac, played his best game of the year by far. Put his head in first and went hard for the ball. Congrats Zac.

Two games to go and keys home we can finish on a high.

Cheers

Kingscliff Under 10 Red vs Murwillumbah Vulcans

This week the mighty U10 Reds travelled to Murwillumbah on a stunning Sunday morning. We were down a few players this week and were kindly donated a few extra players to make up our numbers. We also played some longer quarters to get everyone lots of game time so there were some pretty exhausted boys by the end!

Our first quarter was a very even affair with not a single goal kicked for either team despite the ball spending considerable time in attack for both teams. Both defenses repelled the opposition attacks and it was a genuinely enthralling encounter. As the game wore on we were able to see some nice passages of play from both teams and the game became a bit more open and free flowing, albeit with plenty of tackles resulting in holding the ball calls.

In the 3rd quarter our boys got a bit of a run on and hit the lead with three quick goals, however a strong final quarter from Murwillumbah saw the lads on the end of a narrow defeat.

Our player of the week was Beau. He didn't quite get the reward for effort on the scoreboard but Beau found plenty of the ball and was running hard to apply pressure and make good position. In the last few weeks at training we've noticed Beau's improved attack on the football and desire to impact the game as much as he can and this translated into his best game of the year. Keep up the effort Beau and the goals will flow in time.

Only two weeks for the season remaining. We have a tough home game at 12pm on Sunday against the Tweed Coast Tigers. Please try to get down and support the teams that play before us - there will be a BBQ and drinks for sale and all proceeds go towards supporting the club with new equipment and apparel.

Go Dolphins!
